LEGOLAND California Announces Galacticoaster: A New Space-Themed Adventure

Park's First New Roller Coaster in Over Two Decades Set to Launch in 2026

LEGOLAND California Resort is set to transport visitors to a new frontier with the unveiling of its upcoming space-themed land, featuring the highly anticipated Galacticoaster. Scheduled to open in early 2026, this marks the park's first new roller coaster in more than 20 years.

The Galacticoaster will be housed within a massive 30,000-square-foot building, towering over 30 feet high. The ride boasts nearly 1,500 feet of track, promising an immersive journey through the LEGO galaxy. Construction is currently underway, with a dedicated team of over 500 builders bringing this vision to life.

Flora Liu, Senior Project Manager at Merlin Magic Making, expressed enthusiasm about the project: "Galacticoaster is going to launch LEGOLAND California into a whole new galaxy of fun. It's our first coaster here in more than 20 years and part of Merlin's largest-ever LEGOLAND investment – $90 million to bring Galacticoaster to both LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Florida." The inspiration for the coaster draws from beloved LEGO sets, integrating modern technology to create a personalized and immersive experience for guests. The new land will also feature two additional space-themed rides, a Junior Astronaut Training Zone designed for toddlers, and the Galactic Grub and Gear hub offering themed food, beverages, and souvenirs. LEGOLAND California, which opened in 1999, currently offers over 60 rides, shows, and attractions, including a seasonal water park, an aquarium, and two hotels. The last major addition was in 2015 with the introduction of LEGO Movie World, featuring attractions like Emmet's Flying Adventure and Unikitty's Disco Drop. The Galacticoaster is part of a significant $90 million investment by Merlin Entertainments, marking the largest single in-park investment in the history of LEGOLAND resorts. This expansion aims to enhance the park's appeal and provide guests with a unique, interstellar adventure. As the 2026 launch approaches, more details about this stellar expansion, including specific ride names and the grand opening date, will be shared. Visitors can look forward to an out-of-this-world experience that combines the creativity of LEGO with the excitement of space exploration.
